A 360 degree look at the business of art, the creative process and how to make room for yourself to grow. We have asked our speakers to share with you the story of how they “got there” and to detail how they go about producing ground breaking work- from vision to execution. Each day you get access to a new speaker via a class about theory; an in-person shoot and a class on post-production techniques and how to position your art to your audience.

If you’re coming from out of town, you can fly into three different airports - Newark (EWR), John F. Kennedy (JFK), and La Guardia (LGA). From the airport you can take a taxi, or use the subway to get to the hotel and workshop location. From both airports, a bus transfers to the E train and connects to the B and D line to get to the workshop. The N, Q, R, W, B, D and 6 are the closest to the hotel.

New York City is the perfect city to explore - it’s always changing and has a lot to offer. The city is accessible via Uber and public transportation and by foot. Credit cards are widely accepted although having some cash on hand with you for street food is a good idea. If you like street and architectural photography, New York City has some of the best sights and sounds - you can even take a ferry or helicopter tour to see the city from afar. Best tip is to walk around and take it slow and enjoy the pace of New York’s diverse neighborhoods.

We will be following all local measures to provide for the safety of everyone at the workshop. Hosting RUMBO at Hotel 50 Bowery is one way to provide you with a learning experience that is safe and meets local guidelines. For all our safety and peace of mind, we kindly require that all students submit a negative COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination prior to the workshop. New York City has mandated proof of vaccination for many indoor activities such as restaurants. You can easily prove your vaccination status with the Excelsior App, the NYC Covid Safe App or your paper vaccination card.

Make sure that your passport and documents are up to date, as well as your ESTA profile. Depending on where you are flying in from, there may be additional requirements due to COVID, so please be sure to check those in advance. Please bring proof of vaccination such as your vaccination card or use the NYC Covid Safe App. If you plan to exchange money, there are many convenient exchanges throughout NYC and in Chinatown.
