monika frias

Mónika Frias

There is nothing that the people of the Caribbean enjoy more than a good love story, and Mónika Frías is no exception: Videographer of Dominican origin and based in Barcelona, Mónika enjoys it so much that she turned it into a career. Her warm, intimate, yet hilarious videos of her are the result of her approach: instead of wearing a huge set of audio and lighting gear, she and her D-SLR get into every party and capture moments unexpected from within…

Having worked in the structured world of commercial production, she switched routes five years ago, and that’s what she appreciates most about this line of work: the freedom and joy of capturing the fun, unexpected, and heartwarming side of something so beautifully unstructured like a love story.

margot vivet rumbo workshop

Margot Vivet

Group Coach

Margot Vivet is a personal and group coach. Her passion and profession is to help PROMOTE the change that a professional is wanting, through personal and professional development. This will help you create your personal brand with purpose.

Part of her work consists of teaching capsules with strategies designed to start, activate and reinvent your business or personal brand and push it to the next level, as she tells us. All this through very practical (and fun!) dynamics, techniques and tools where you can quickly identify the value and talent that your brand has. Being able to reveal why you do what you do to finally connect your personal and professional brand.

When it comes to group work, once some dynamics she works with have been completed, it is Margot’s job to share those learnings to together create the map “design the life you want to live.”

She has “one to one” session programs, tailored mentoring with strategies and different face-to-face training for organizations. All of them based on coaching techniques, neolinguistic programming and neuromarketing.

After seeing the work she has done with some professionals in the creative sector with brilliant success stories, we did not doubt for a moment that Margot should be part of this adventure.

Sara Lobla

Sara lobla, wedding photographer and holistic mentor for women.

Her work on weddings has led her to photograph in countries such as the United States, Bahamas, Italy and different parts of Europe on a regular basis. She is truly an example of a destination photographer. In addition, it has been published in important magazines such as Vogue, Telva or the well-known bridal magazine Brides, among others. Her natural and organic photography is the pure reflection of who Sara is. That same identity that she captures under her experience in her current work together with women, holistic mentoring.

Currently, Sara develops mentorships to help brave women embark on her life. At RUMBO we want to learn a lot about this topic with her through her personal and professional growth.

Alex domenech

Alex Domènech

Alex Domènech is a photographer specialized in author documentary photography. Between his personal life and his photographic projects there is no very defined division: he shows us his intimacy in the form of narratives. In his images we clearly see how a lifestyle can become a long-term personal project. If we delve a little into his career, we soon realize his interest in unusual places, which carry with them an important historical burden and where the wounds are still open. Bosnia, Serbia, Lebanon or Syria are a clear example.

His references come from cinema, photography and painting. He is also interested in communist architectural currents, non-places, what we could consider a limbo between identities. The inhospitable. You are moved by empathy, intuition and details.

Alex’s photography looks towards the margins, enters and explores unusual places, the limits. He creates universes through a language that is built from that point of view in which techniques, poetics and identities meet, mix and separate. In his latest projects, he has matured a discourse in which stories are told from the intimacy of what has been experienced, towards new perspectives.

diego waves

Diego is a develloper and graphic designer, passionate about art direction, photography and illustration. He loves to transmit that passion and share all the knowledge acquired through experience.

He has worked for international clients in agencies and as a freelancer, designing brands and websites. For a few years he also has knowledge in web development. At the end of the day, it’s interesting to know how things work on the inside so you can design them well. With it we will learn to focus the visual style of our website, adapting it to our brand and making us feel identified. He will show us how to follow some guidelines to have typographical and style coherence. He will also tell us about the available technologies and provide us with graphic inspiration.

When you start organizing a workshop for photographers, a lot of thought goes into it (we can assure you that a lot…) in order to create a 360 theoretical-practical-experiential training. To managed to bring together twelve speakers who, through their knowledge, experiences, and workshops would teach us to face some of the situations that an enterprising and creative person finds themselves.

We had Margot Vivet, a personal and group coach, who accompanied the entire event through dynamics. She is an expert in personal and professional development and works to help create your personal brand with purpose. Many of us know that she left her mark on a large part of the attendees.

David Griso shared his inspiration, experience, his work in depth and did a wedding shooting. José Melgarejo was a perfect communicator, transmitting the origin of RUMBO, the meaning and value of the creation of the project. In addition, Alvaro Sancha, the third pillar of the RUMBO organization held a masterclass on SEO web for photographers. His presentation was shared with Diego de Dios, a web designer with whom he works hand in hand.

We learned to Chiquita y Salvaje, alternative wedding photographers and videographers with their own style. His history, evolution, creative process and his workshop were incredible. We were also lucky to have Hollymabuba, an illustrator and branding designer, who spoke to us about the importance of brand through some of her assignments.

Its not possible talk about RUMBO without mentioning Kelly Balch, our being of light. Her sensitivity, communication, experience and work made us learn about many cases that this society does not detect in the face of a diverse reality full of love.

We had the honor of having Monika Frias Aka La Txina, a reference in the sector. She managed to once again leave us with our mouths open with her work and her way of understanding her life. The importance of creating memories…

We greatly appreciate the sponsorship of Shooters Film Lab and Kinafoto for making possible the presence of two of the best people who have passed through RUMBO WS; Sara Lobla and Alex Domenech.

With you Sara we learned, we laughed, we cried and we thanked life for being who we are. Alex, your vision and art create a mark on us and your presence was not a passing thing, you became part of this family. We loved learning about your projects, your questioning and your creative processes.

Shootings: The power of practicality

Since we began developing RUMBO WORKSHOP, we were very clear about the value of taking “from theory to practice” in the workshops that made the most sense. For this reason we had the opportunity to enjoy wedding, editorial and couple shootings by David Griso, Kelly Balch, Chiquita and Salvaje.

To manage the shooting we relied on the work of Silvia from Fresh & Wood (wedding planner in Barcelona) who was in charge of having the best suppliers such as: Qcpproductions (lighting), Bokehmakeup (make up), Martina Dorta (Jewelry), Abanik (Furniture), Pool&Tina (bathtub), The Forest Shoes (Shoes), Larca Barcelona (Bridal Veil), Better With Co (Stationery), etc.

Coexistence: 24 hours together

At RUMBO we believe that none of this makes sense if it does not connect between people by creating a community. From shared breakfasts, group dynamics, breaks, group management in shooting,… It is very important for us that this factor works, so that the development of RUMBO WORKSHOP coheres to create meaning. This factor was more than fulfilled and we are super happy about it and once again we thank you.

Once again, THANK YOU to all the people who were part of RUMBO WORKSHOP Barcelona 2022, who are part of the RUMBO community and those who continue to ask when the next edition will be… Without you this would not have been possible and will not be possible in the next editions . You showed that things can be done differently, that you can learn just by listening and browsing among colleagues and above all that you can create a community by strengthening the ties of a creative sector full of talent.
